Anyone live near Greensboro, NC?

There’s an M3 at a dealer. Would be nice to know what it’s like cosmetically before I consider driving 700mi round trip to look at it myself.

I live a/b 25min East of G’boro. Scott Mc lives in downtown G’boro. Are you looking at the sedan at Eurobahn Motorsprots?

Funny… cuz you’ve said you come to Greensboro for a lot of your Craigs list dates. I guess those rumors about you dating cows is true. I just thought Travis was referring to large women

Careful, remember that I live near Teddy M3, and he said he was up for any kind of mayhem. he just figured out how to set airbags off, launched a skateboard into a dude’s nad sack. today he comes by raving about a wreck out on the highway, appearently someone driving a hooptie conversion van full of stolen tools rolled it repeatedly then fled the scene. Teddy and his Vol fire dept friends “cleaned up” the scene…

Ranger,

Tom and I live 30 mins west and know the guys at Eurobahn. Nice guys and pretty much all the cars are very clean.

If you want, Tom or I could check it out on Monday and talk to the brothers (two brothers own it, I can’t remember their names). I’ve talkedd insurance AND BMW’s with them several timess. Tom knows them better then I do.

Call me or Tom monday morning at our office, 800-764-3456

The shop is called ES Motorsports, but I think that they have some relationship with Eurobahn. They have mixed reviews on the forums so it’s hard to know what kind of folks they are. I’ve been talking to a guy called Ace. They weren’t interested in sending more photos…Curious. The interior is supposed to be 8/10 and the exterior 7/10. It was in a wreck in '04 and sustained some front end damage. ES didn’t tell me that, CarFAX did. Strike 1 for ES Motorsports.

ES says that all the paint really needs is a good polish job. Which raises the question…why didn’t they do that?

#11

Scott,

I don’t know ES and this is NOT an indication of their honesty, BUT… anytime the word “curious” runs through YOUR mind… RUN!

A lot of people could buy a car like this and have it be a true diamond in the rough, but history has not been kind to you!

You’re doing the right thing having someone check it out, but there HAS to be some better examples out there. I think I saw that Eurobahn has a real nice M3 Sedan for sale right now if that’s what you are looking for. You’re probably not talking a lot of money difference and you’ll be much happier not having to spend a bunch of money getting a car up to snuff (look in your garage).

#12

I hear ya.

Eurobahn seems to have a couple E36 M3’s for around $12.5. That’s a fair amount more then $8250. But if the car has more problems then it’s history, then heck with that. The trick is to find a cherry car with a bad history. If someone says “I looked at it, it looks fine and the crappy paint should buff out fine”, then I’ll come up there and check out the motor and suspension as best can.

A year ago I wouldn’t really have been able to mechanically check out a car worth a shit. But now I sort of can.

#13

Scott, My understanding is that this guy “Ace” is not connected to Eurobahn at all and he does h=get “mixed” reviews.

The cars at Eurobahn seem to be very clean and nice. The history can be suspence but that’s the case on any used car. I can tell you this, Eurobahns cars will be clean and all fixed up, not need to do anything like that.

Eurobahn specializes in the “M” cars aand normally have afew E36 M3’s.

Call us if you need any direct help.

Tom’s in Charleston this weekend but both of us will be in the office tomorrow and happy to help!

Scott,

I live in Greensboro.

Be glad to stop by and look at the car for you.

I talked to Ace once when I went by his shop to look at an E36 M3. Said he had a shop in Charlotte and was opening a new one in Greensboro. I thought it had gone though. Can’t speak for his honesty. His shop is (was) about 5 minutes from my office. I can take a camera and send you photos if you’d like.

As an aside, I met Al here at Thanksgiving when he delivered a front air dam for my car. Said he was here for the holiday visiting his family. Didn’t notice any horns on him, so draw your own conclusions.

That’d be awesome, pls do give it a hard look. Don’t bother with photos, just look it over and maybe take some notes on cosmetic issues. If the paint in front is the weak point, ask yourself if some work with a buffer could fix it up.

And anyone else that wants to give it a look-see, pls do. But don’t inconvenience yourself on my account, I’m already deep in the red for favors done vs. favors rec’d.

sorry about the gboro comment, was feeling a little lou gossetty and tried to poke scott MC a little

I’m also poking the idea of E36 non-M fixer-upper instead. Maybe I can find one that is really nice except that it has a blown headgasket or something. A guy in Charleston is selling an E36 that needs a motor. But it’s an auto. I need a manual and 4 door.

#18

This M3 popped up yesterday. For 8K, that’s a good price if the car is in good shape.

What are you looking to spend for a non-M3 E36?

#19

Someone going by ES Motorsports to look at that M3?
