Anyone going to Hyperfest?

Hyperfest is less than two weeks away and no discussion.

Is it going to be a small SpecE30 crowd this year?

Not going to make it Steve. Our next event is VIR in July.

I will be there. Only 14 cars in our group, I beleive. Hopfully my car will act right this trip.

As long as I get my car back from the body shop in time to fix everything else, I’ll be there. Even if the car can’t be fixed in time I’ll still probably come down to hang out.

I’ll be there for my first NASA & SpecE30 race. Raced with SCCA out in California last couple years so looking forward to all the great things I’ve heard about SpecE30. I expect to be in the back of the pack figuring out the new setup and a new track.

What’s the paddock situation like? Do we all paddock together or is it a first-come, first-served free-for-all? I need to get the car through tech so I’m going to try to get there Friday late afternoon. Also, I’ve got an open trailer so I assume we unload then go put the trailer somewhere other than the paddock. Any info would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
-Joe

I beleive there will be another non-NASA event on Friday, so you probably won’t be allowed in prior to 5:30pm.

I’ll be there driving in HPDE2 & learning all that I can so I can come play with you big boys.

See y’all there!

No official paddock assignments, it WILL be sort of a free for all however, staff will make you condense if you take up more room than necessary. Open trailer drop is behind T-10 which is out of the paddock, over the bridge, turn right…profit.

Tech will open Friday at 6:30 PM and remain open till 9:00

Thanks for the info. So no official paddock spots, but are you SpecE30 guys going to try to paddock together or does the craziness of Hyperfest make it too difficult for this event? Any traditional location (e.g. far end of paddock, nearest to tech, etc.) for SpecE30s at Summit? Also, what time are y’all planning to arrive?

Sorry for the remedial questions. Prefer not to end up somewhere else if I don’t have to. I’ve also been chasing a lower rev limiter problem and could use ideas from the E30 gurus.

Thanks again,
-Joe

Thanks again,
-Joe[/quote]Paddock will be crazy but this year ONLY one support vehicle per participant will have a paddock pass so we should have a little more room. The E30’s usually try to paddock near the middle of the paddock on the right side of the first road farthest from the track as you drive in

Well it’s starting to look my chances of making H-fest are getting slim. The car has been at the body shop for a couple weeks and hasn’t been touched yet. The guy is either telling the truth and has a ton of family things going or is giving me the runaround, either way he is slacking. I can’t even get a definite answer from him when the car will get on the machine. Tried other shops in the hopes someone could fit it in this week and I would take my car from the shop it is at, but no luck. That said, even if I get the car back Friday and have to work all night on it to get it ready and then do a late night drive, I will be there.

If there is anything that can be done at the track, bring it! I will definitely help out any way I can. You are (much) faster than me now but it would still be great to race with you.

I have a sledge hammer… can I help?
…no seriously, I’ll be there in HPDE2, but will help out in any way I can.

Robert and I will be rolling in Friday evening. Doing HPDEs…

Project Spec E30 is loaded up and crammed full of GRM booth stuff; I’m coming up with fiancee Ashley, new ad guy Greg and his girl Monique. Greg will be working the booth out in the main area while we rock the Spec E30 and do the editorial stuff. Since we’ve got so many people and so much stuff, I’m not going to have room for my main toolbox, so I might be more of a mooch than usual on the tool front. Also, I’ve got brand-new R888s mounted up, but no spare tires. Hopefully it’ll be a smooth weekend.

Is regular fuel available at the track?

FYI, here’s a paddock map: http://www.nasaracing.net/Hyperfest08/Paddock_Map_Hfest_2008_v2.pdf SpecE30 and GTS are in the second “slot” on the pavement as you enter the paddock.

Seth, good to meet you and Robert last weekend. Looks like my car is back alive. (Woodruff key holding the crank pulley was nearly sheared!) Not sure how competitive it’ll be, but at least I’ll be out there this weekend. I’ll plan to give you a call on the way to the track. If you want to paddock in the SpecE30 area, let’s try to get a spot together. I’m going to try to get there around 5:30 or 6:00.

Scott, you’re welcome use any tools of mine that you need.

See y’all at the track,
-Joe

P.S. Looks like 40% chance of T-storms both days. Bring your rains just in case!

Thanks everyone for coming. I wish track would not be so bumpy.
