AMB Transponder Question

#1

I have an AMB Transponder that came with my car. It was never used and still needs to be mounted however the PO has registered it with MyLaps under his First and Last Name. He has given me the login information for the account but the First and Last name of the account is his and unchangeable. I have changed the email address and NickName associated with the account to my information. The question is, Does it matter if the user First and Last Name as are still listed as him? Again, I have all of the login info. I see where I can have it changed for $40 but I’m wondering if that is required or if it matters since I have to advise NASA of the Transponder Number I an using anyways. Wondering what name will get published with the track times.

It doesn’t matter. NASA (etc) only cares about transponder #'s. Eventually it will irritate you enough that you’ll buy a new one tho. Welcome to AMB’s new (4yrs ago?) business plan. I was able to change the PO’s transponder to my name when I bought my car in '07 but shortly thereafter that flexibility went away.

Thanks, When the lap times show up for both the sanctioning body and in MyLaps will it show the name tied to the account or the NickName. If it’s just the nickname then I won’t care, if it’s the Registered First and Last Name then I will change it.

Nickname = username?

I’m pretty sure that it will show the name tied to the account. You’ll end up having to buy another transponder.

From my understanding that’s not the case. AMB has a ‘service’ where they will change the owner of the transponder.
