ABS light after brake flush

#1

Flushed brake fluid - Pressure bleeder method followed by traditional pump/hold pedal. Pretty darn sure I didn’t introduce any air into the system at either end. Now the ABS light is on and ABS is not functioning.

Any suggestions?

Just a Guess.

Did you jump start the car, do any welding on the car or anything electrical? then you could have popped the ABS relay. here are pics as well as a making a temp fix

Nope, didn’t do any electrical. But thanks for the tip - I’ll check the relay just in case.

Turns out it had nothing to do with the brake flush, pure coincidence. Actual culprit was an intermittent connection inside the left rear sensor housing.

FWIW I learned that:

  1. if the abs light only comes on after you’ve driven at 5mph+ then the pump is probably okay, it means the computer is not getting an abs pulse from one of the wheels.
  2. the rear abs sensors are pretty easy to check; you can access the plugs that connect them to the wiring harness from inside the car. Sensors that are working properly apparently show 1000 ohms (1k ohm). Didn’t try the fronts.
