87 325e stroker (w/ i top, etc), no spark

#1

So right now, I get no power to 87 and 30 at the fuel pump relay and fuse 11 is good. I checked with a known good e30 next to me so I know my checking methods are good.

I’ve tried 3 wiring harnesses already and no good. I don’t mind buying a NEW harness if I know for sure it is the harness since it’s not cheap.

New on the following: plugs, coil, cap, rotor, plug wire, and cps.
Swapped with known good: wiring harness, dme, icv, and tps

Did the following…

this has been going on for a while now and still no luck…

Since my last post on r3v, I have found something new…

  • I can’t find the CEL bulb in my dash anywhere.
  • I was able to rig a CEL from DME pin 15 to junction box and got 1444, no fault code
  • some of my instrument lights do not come on, specifically the lighting control blub (which I thought originally was the CEL blub), and the 13 OBC. There seems to be a short on these two wires since I would get continuity when I probe them. I’ve isolated down to the fire wall.
  • Because of the above, I am swapping out the fuse box soon. got the board, just waiting for the terminal connector removal tool to come in.

After that, I am out of ideas…

HELP!!!

We have our charms here at SpecE30 but this might not be the best place to look for electrical troubleshooting info. I’d email Jim Levie or talk to the guys at e30tech. We’re mostly racers here. We’re only mechanics enough to keep our cars on the track.

PM me and I’ll send you Jim’s email address.

Yeah, I actually had A LOT of PM exchange with Jim on r3v already. But I’ll try e30tech as well. thanks!
