6/6/06 Rules changes

#1

don’t know if I just missed an announcement or something, but I just noticed that the rules were changed on 6/6/06. It is hard to tell what changed since the highlighting for the 2005 to 2006 changes is still there. The major change seems to be that as of 1/1/2007, the SU class is eliminated.

Just a suggestion, it would be good to see an announcement when the rules are changed - I was only expecting to look for changes at the beginning of the year.

On another note, it now looks like there are 3 spec e30 cars and drivers under development in the Rocky Mountain region.

thanks,
bruce

I’ll repeat that the deletion of the SU class should be on the main page of this web site in BIG LETTERS, because I nearly bought a 318i. Luckily, I was reading the archives of the message board and caught myself before it was too late. Buying the wrong car is not the way you want to start off noobs in the series.

No worries; the 325i is now in my garage and going under the knife. B)

You’re right David. We’ll make a point to make sure it’s clear to all.

And the Rules didn’t change recently. I think those changes were made prior to the beginning of this season, but I’ll look at it more closely.

Also, Mike just recently fixed the "print problem" so everyone should have access to a hard copy of the Spec E30 Rules.

We strongly suggest that our new car builders/owners print a copy and read it carefully and completely before touching your car. Then, tape it to the windshield. When building the car, go line-by-line and you’ll build a competitive and legal car. if you just start ripping things out, you might end up with a problem.

Well done, Carter. You are really encouraging in your handling of the series. Good show.
As for the ‘tape it to the windshield’ suggestion, not bad. I began ripping crap out of mine today (a/c, seats, carpet next).

David:

Mike just posted the SU situation on the front page of the site. Thanks for mentioning it.

And keep us up to date on your build progress.

well, for the first time in a long time, I went to the spece30.com home page (usually use a shortcut to go direct to the forums). Lo and behold, there is an announcement dated 6/6/06 that the rules were updated to remove the SU class, so it was me that missed an announcement (suspect I’m not alone…)

cheers,
