Wanted to know if I could here from the ppl that have done this, I have an 84 325e and I want to go to the 2.5L engine with and auto trans and a 325is lsd any help would be great. This is a daily driver thats why I am sticking with the auto trans rather than a 5 spd.

The links posted by Jones will be very useful for your research.
The swap itself is pretty straight forward, several folks on this board have done it, but not with Auto tranny. One of the main obstacles you will have to deal with is the main harness connector on your 84 325e will not mate up with the 325i engine harness connector (later 325e’s DO match up). You can make an adapter pretty easily OR you can cut and splice- I personally would make an adapter with the proper plug ends.
The diff is no problem, just choose the ratio you want, some 325is autos came with 373 some with 410.
