30A fan fuse keeps blowing

#1

anyone have any advice or insight as to why the 30a fuse would keep blowing on the aux fan? I have it so it turns on with the A/C switch but it keeps killing 30a fuses. It will run at first but eventually the fuse blows, so I know it’s not shorted. It is wired for high speed, if I change it to low speed would that fix it?

That sounds to me like a bad motor on the aux fan. Could be some shorted windings or just bad bearings.

I had this problem too. Solved it put putting a relay in with no fuse on the high current size.

Note tho that the behavior you described is unusual. The 30A circuit doesn’t support anything else? A motor’s peak current is at start up, so that’s when the fuse should blow.
