30% off on Carbotech Brake Pads

#1

Eric Wong @BrakeSwap has worked us a 30% off deal on Carbotech XP16 and XP12’s. Carbotechs E30 pads have historically been pricey, but this brings them to a similar price range with Hawk HT10’s and PFC 01/06’s. We talking about a savings of around $55 per set.

The Carbotech XP12 is a high bite pad with more bite then the HT10 or PFC01/06s. I’ve confirmed this with my own tests.

The Carbotech XP16 has more brake torque then the XP12. I’ve not used it yet, but if I recall correctly Skeen ran them in front at Nationals. At the time they were not available in E30 rear fitment.

Both pad compounds are available for F and R.

Eric asked that we coord together and create a group buy. You can get pricing at BrakeSwap, then deduct 30%. If you are interested, post in this thread and in a week or two I’ll send the list to Eric.

E30 fitment not listed on their website, and the XP16 are not listed under E36. Under E92 the XP16s are $269.

I ran the XP9s for a year and liked them.

If I remember correctly, I ran 16 all the way around at nationals. They might even be too high-bite. I think I went back to 12s at Summit Point. XP16 prices were: Front: $196, Rear: $188. That is without the discount, I believe.

The XP12’s are a little less, but yes those are list prices. That’s why this 30% discount deal is significant. Otherwise folks might be reluctant to try out the Carbotech pads.

One of the charms of Carbotech is that they offer the largest range of torque for us, and they are all late generation pads. XP8, 10, 12 & 16.

Hawk’s only late generation pad for us is the DTC60 and that’s front only.

PFC has the PFC01 and PFC06. And they are apparently pretty close in brake torque which makes for a narrow range to experiment with.

Clarification guys. Ive been talking to Scott about this and posting here, but there are a few points I need to clear up.

This is not a group buy. Carbotech realized they needed to do something to compete in this market. Being that PFC and Hawk (which we also sell) are almost half the price of similar Carbotech compounds, it is no surprise.

As such, they are going to reduce the list price on their XP12 and XP16 compounds by 30%. For now, this has not been made public and only a few retailers are allowed to sell at this new list price.

The only reason for coordinating everyone who wants to buy is they want to get an idea of what to stock. As everyone knows, Carbotech is a pretty small operation compared to Hawk/PFC.

Thanks,
Eric
