2011 Hotlanta Challenge - Decent Field, Weak Smack

#1

Alright boys and girls. Here’s the line-up of 13 fierce competitors:

112 WALSH, DAVID
113 Lako, Steven
117 marks, jay
118 Levine, Evan
168 Childress, Kelly
191 Palacio, Eric
333 Tuttell, Christopher
401 Taylor, Charles
410 DeVinney, Stephen
47 Harness, Matt
53 Switzer, Fred
6 Gress, Scott
919 Palacio, Julio

Forecast is for temps in the low 90s and rain 40-50% likely. Except for Kelly “ix Aero Package” Childress and King Tut, it’s the usual suspects – a couple with new lumps installed. Any predictions?

Any last-minute surprises? I assume Johan will show up. Tower won’t be there so somebody needs to fill in and wear pajamas to the drivers meeting. Bratton isn’t signed up so someone needs to complain about my motor on his behalf. No Laura Patton Parkhurst? Dang. I’ll have to find someone else to bump draft.:woohoo:

#2

I predict Johan shows up and if it’s wet he’ll finish 20 feet off the back bumper of the 2nd place car

how y’all doin’?

#3

I got a fresh set of full tread RA1s in case of rain, and I am ready to go with my new alignment. It was high 90s at Memphis last month, so I am ready for the heat as well. I don’t think I’m in a position to talk smack yet, so perhaps focusing on locking down that 11th place Bimmerworld position would be a good plan.

#4

You may have some competition. If I’m running 10th, be sure to watch for braking in some strange places. I’ll make you get in front of me somehow.

I’m looking forward to some good racing this weekend.

Where’s Levie, Thornton, Flack, etc?

Matt

#5

I think Levie is focused on taking the Mid South championship. Hopefully we can give him a run at Nashville.

 I was still holding out hope until last night I discovered Bitsy has not had her timing belt replaced since 2005… fingers crossed for Roebling

ScottMc???Who is that? How about coming down to race and we will supply the beer. That cuts your weekend budget in half.
Timing belt? 20$ and some cut up knuckles. Enough with the excuses, lets get some more to sign up.
My house got struck by lightning last night and toasted everything electrical except my labtop, and Ill make it.
See everyone at the track.

#8

Hi to Scott Mc!! When will we see you at the track?

Just registered for the Oven Racing at RA this weekend. With just a small field - I have a good shot at the 11th place award. I’ll be arriving Sat. morning, so probably parking off by myself :frowning:

#9

I should be there in TTS - I have about the same amount of money in the GT3 as Steve D in his Spec E30, so can push all the way.
I have about the same amount of money in the GT3 as Steve D in his Spec E30
If you count all the plastic surgery for the driver, you’re probably close. This is me trying to frown: :woohoo:

PS - You’ll probably turn the same lap times too. BAM!

PPS - Which one of you crackheads tried to break in the back door of my double wide? Bummer of a way to come home from a relaxing weekend at the beach.

#11

Here’s my smacktalk.

I’d like to make it thru a weekend w/o smacking anything.

Steve, we going to drink more Sweetwater 420 and wonder where the Miaters are?

#12

I’m up for not smacking anything (this is my 4th provisional race) and some Sweetwater. I noticed there was no lovefest scheduled for this event.

#13

We will most likely have a lovefest – if for no other reason than to piss Ranger off with a couple pro paddock interlopers (my wife in DE3 in our SM and a buddy in DE1 in his S4). I’m thinking a selection of Sweetwater 420 and Gatorade is what will fill the cooler.

From the confirmation email, please remember to bring your 2011 race license to show Robert/myself to get your wristband.

Wristbands

All racers will meet with their Series Director after the All Hands Meeting saturday morning to get their wristbands that will allow them on track. You need to show your Series Director you 2011 License and anything else (Dyno sheets, etc.) that he/she wants to see in regards to racing in that series.

 • I think we may interpret the ‘anything else’ as a folded $20 bill!

Annual Tech

All racecars must have an annual tech completed for 2011! You can get your Annual Tech completed beforehand at any one of the many Tech Stations listed on the NASA-SE.com website. If you do not have a 2011 Annual Tech then bring your car, gear and logbook to Tech during Tech hours listed above. We will be charging $75 to perform Annual Tech’s at the track. Once you have an annual tech you will not have to return to Tech before an event for the rest of 2011!! NOTE: there is no “event decal” for Racers anymore, just your Annual Tech Decal.

Also, notice that Saturday and Sunday practice is shared with Thunder and ITC (big-bux Porsche Cayman touring series). This will result in a very crowded track shared with folks we don’t normally run with.

My suggestion would be to religiously check your mirrors before going for an apex at any corner during practice. You just don’t know what might be going on behind you.

#16

Anybody from Winston-Salem/Greensboro area that’s coming down? Fella on the NASA board is looking for some parts transport.

#17

I won’t get on site until about 9PM. If you see folks parked in our area, pls encourage them to move on. Steve has provide assurances that OPM and their hangers-on will cease parking in SpecE30 land.

#18

I can only control what I can control. As my wife reminds me through words and actions, that is precious little.

#19

I call BS. You have the courage to go thru turn 1 10mph faster than my courage allows. You have more moxie than you give yourself credit for.

Tell you what. You help me get thru turn 1 like you do, and I’ll help you with “the glower” that shows the target the briefest glance of the axe-murderer that rages just underneath. It won’t work on the wife because she knows better, but OPM will wilt.

#20

Ranger -

OPM isn’t the problem. I’ve asked Ryan to make sure he puts the trailer in the Miata area. What the rest of the yahoos do, I dunno. Maybe the lovefests are working and they want to snuggle right up close to you.

During any given race weekend the things on my mind are (a) promoting fun, harmonious racing between my SM friends and my SE30 friends, (b) figuring out how the hell Johan does it so much better, © making fun of Tower’s pajamas, (d) wondering what Christina sees in Evan, (e) ogling the Teen Mazda Challenge participants’ girlfriends (provided they are over 18)…

As you can see, my plate is pretty full with very little giveashit left over to worry about where people park.

That being said, I’d happily donate to the “Spec E30 Paddock Orange Cone Fund” so we can have the first person there grab cones from the NASA hauler and mark our territory. Since your pissing along the property line doesn’t seem to be working. :woohoo:
