15x7 Wheel option coming soon!

#1

Fellow SpecE30 racers,

Last year the Kosei 15x7 wheels ran out of production and I still had a lot of requests for them. I am certainly aware there are a couple options on the market for this series but I’ve had requests for other options so…

I worked with The Tire Rack to get Kazera to make their KZ-M model in E30 fitment. I liked the look of this wheel initially because of the gray color but also the spoke design. Noting that the Miata size is similar (uses the same 4x100 bolt pattern, just a different offset/center bore) I figured this was an option.

So, again, working with Tire Rack I gave them the specs for E30’s and told them to get Kazera to make them…and they did! Specs:

Kazera KZ-M available in light gray or white (I don’t see this listed on TTR website but they say that’s what’s coming)
Size is 15x7, ET25, 4x100
Weight: 13.5lbs
See attached pic

The retail on them is $119/ea but I will offer them to SpecE30 racers and forum members at a 10% discount purchased individually or in sets.

They will not be available til mid March so there’s some time here. However I will take pre-orders for those who want them as I suspect their initial order will go pretty quickly. I already have a sizeable portion of the initial order marked for me and I picked a selection of both gray and white.

Anyway, please let me know if you’re interested. Cheers.

that’s cook Jack, thanks.
Just curious why you chose 25mm and not further outwards?
cheers,

Hey Bruce,

Well I expect that people will want these for street wheels as well so changing the offset a lot may make them not as desireable. I figured in stock size there would be more demand and thus justification for Kazera to keep making them. The 25mm is the stock offset for the 15x7 (or maybe it’s 24mm). So with spacers if one desires, more track can be achieved. I’ve always used spacers on my race cars for one reason or another but stock offset is fine too. Cheers.

I saw these last night on TR while I was browsing for other options since the TD wheels seem to keep going up in price and are hit and miss on inventory.

Thanks Jack!

I’ll probably be contacting you soon for a set.

JP

PS - Everything looks better in Black. B)

Great news. More options are always a good thing.

When to you think you’ll have these available?

Hope to place an order with you guys soon.

I was talking to a custom wheel builder today. He was quite familiar with that wheel and was skeptical that the e30 version will weigh in at 13.5 when all is said and done. It has something to do with how the various offsets are manufactured and whether or not the entire mould is re-made or just the fortion for the hub.

In any case, have they guarunteed that weight or is it a "target"? Since they won’t be available before round one, I have been looking for something else and the best I have found so far in something fairly inexpensive is 15.5lbs. Don’t want to wait until March for a set and find out that they are no better.

BTW - saw a used set of basketweaves that were 15x7 4 lug. Will these work? I understand that there aren’t 15x7 bottlecaps for our cars so I was just assuming that if I wanted 4 lug 15x7’s, I would have to go aftermarket.

I have three sets of 15X7 basketweaves. It is great to have all the same looking wheel for optimizing tires. I have not weight one but I have been told they are around 16lbs. Maybe I will demount a tire and weight on here soon.

There are two factory 15X7 basketweaves: IX weaves, and Euro weaves. The Euro weaves have the correct offset while the IX are not optimal.

Both are heavy.

I have the euro basketweaves and with valve stem and no tire they weight about 16.5 lbs as close as I could weight. the offset is ET 24.

I would love some lighter wheels or to use my "is" wheels but can’t. I will most likly keep the 15X7’s for spec E30 and let my two sets of 14X6.5 go with the ITS car. Use a set of bottle caps for the rain.

Hmmm…interesting question. Well, I feel quite confident in saying that I highly doubt they are making a new mould for them. One of th reasons I was so interested in this wheel is that the standard offset of them is 30mm and the center bore is off by like 1mm. So my thought was a little less machining here and a little more there. That’s how I presented it and it was a very quick turn around for the answer. This, and the limited market that I’m sure they are aware of, is the reason I feel that it’s a modification to the existing wheel.

I can’t gurantee the weight as of yet because I don’t have them either. I will call to check on it again though as if they end up being 15lbs then the point is lost. However, I didn’t mention it yet but one of the other primary goals that I went to them with was to make them light, I told them the target was to be as close to 13lbs without going under. I cited comparative examples such as the defunct Kosei and others on the market currently.

I feel pretty good that the end result will be as described. Cheers.

As was pointed out below, mid March is the target availability date. I’m going to call periodically to check status but TTR has always been pretty good about their dates, they do not tend to be too optimistic with them.

Cheers.

Hey man don’t be selling all my wheels off :stuck_out_tongue: , seriously I’ll be getting 4 sets of these wheels. They look good, are light and cheap. Jack has done a lot of leg work to get these made and as a forum sponsor and my sponsor I’ll be supporting his efforts. Also another little tidbit if you watched the SCCA runoffs on Speed the spec miata winner was running these wheels as were a number of other cars so I’m guessing they are pretty proven already.

#15

I like the design of these, I’m considering them.

Greetings:

I apologize in advance for the hijack but with the conversation being around wheels, I thought I’d ask here. A friend of mine just picked up "Brain’s" car. I went to look at it last night and noticed the wheels had no brand markings at all. Does anybody know which wheels are these and where can they be gotten? I am building a car for CCA/Spec E30 and would really like to use those. Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Ricky

Has anyone contacted Bimmerworld? We have purchased about 10 sets of the 15 X 7 for ITS cars, correct offset and hole size in the $115 range. You’ll have to ask about weight. Chuck

Those are the Team Dynamics Pro Race 1’s.

The only ones that BW sells that I’m aware of are the TD wheels mentioned above. . . . I wish they were going for $115 still. . . . or weren’t perpetually on backorder.

Anybody willing to get as many wheels as Chuck does at one time gets that price too.

They just came back in stock for those interested. I’ll be marking them back in inventory tomorow. They are allready shipping from california directly from TD for those allready on backorder and the rest will be freighted to us in VA shortly.

Are the Pro Race 1.2s available in 15x7"? I thought there was some improvement made in the 1.2s w/ the spokes no longer sticking out to far or something… or did i dream all this up?
