Standing Starts?

Please carefully read your CCRs.

Start assigning points for the screw-ups on track. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it takes 10 points to be told to go elsewhere.

This isn’t BMWCCA racing and there is not a way to get a 13/13 implemented…or at least there wasn’t last year.I’ve already been down this road.

I’m in your camp. But,if you think rules will minimize you’ll have to look elsewhere.

Pantas, can you provide insight?

Robert, I guess specifically you mean sections 27.8 and 27.12.1. Yep, I’ve read them.

Damion, you and I and everyone else is lumped in with Cullen. Stupid mistakes.By the grace of God your spin didn’t take out four cars. By the same grace I didn’t take out a pack in back of me at VIR.Every racer can tell you about a near miss. Guess that is one of the things that makes this one of Hemmingway’s three sports. My post is not a defense of Cullen, nor is it a slam on you. It’s simply pointing out that EVRRYONE has made a stupid mistake.

The aftermath of Cullen’s error in judgement was not handled well. The ill will is showing in this thread.Perhaps we should return to the original question.

Steve, those are the numbers and I don’t like 'em worth a …But, Skeen is right, what’s done is done. Let’s agree to talk to Pantas.

You’ll want to check the RA entry list and discuss Spec E30 related issues with Chuck Taylor.

Looks like we are doing one of each.

I think it would be a good idea to have a quick spec e30 drivers meeting before each race.

In addition to Steve’s concerns… I’ve noticed a lot of confusion at the back of the pack on the last few rolling starts.

See you guys soon! :woohoo:

Thanks Robert, That exercise was just to make you aware that I was indeed well aware of the rules. This isn’t about criticizing anyone. The thread started as an attempt to find out what sort of start we should have at RA. Chuck admits having the incident from CMP on his mind as one of the reasons for asking the question of what we all wanted to do. I said that I don’t think it matters if it is rolling or standing. Whats done is indeed done, but if we don’t learn from previous on track incidents; I submit the same fate may await you all at some point in time. I’m trying to think of ways to prevent that. The Green/Yellow start is frequently done in HR events.

Guys,
I hate to see carnage like we had at CMP too. Unfortunately, it is a sad fact of racing, we could start tracking points, but I truly believe in this case that the driver has a self-imposed punishment. If at any time we feel it is out of hand we will definitely start sanctioning folks and tracking points. Like Robert said, as long as we always start every race as friends and end every race as friends then we’ll all enjoy this sport tremendously.

Watching Skeen last nite in the carnage-fest on Setup you can only wonder how any of the drivers could emerge unscathed (and the look on Skeen’s face when he dodged that one incident was priceless!) Anytime you put spec/matched cars on a track you open it up for lots of potential carnage, and also on Setup last nite you noticed that they stressed car control and clean passes.

Have I done dumb moves on track? Yes
Have I been lucky to not hit anyone/get hit? Yes
Will my luck run out someday? Definitely!

What’s done is done, let’s go racing!

Does that mean if we run out of money along the way…we run out of friends?

Thanks Jim.

My alter ego guy, Melvin-the-Meddler, has talked to your Spec E30 administrator dude and I predict that you’ll be talking to him soon about tracking the track.

Make sense?

I don’t know what the fall-out of the CMP T1 incident was, but I have witnessed personally incidents not being “dealt with.” I’m tired of the notion that it’s unfair to assess penalties. What’s unfair is to not be consistent. Let’s consistently, robotically, unemotionally assign penalties when someone screws up. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, bad judgment doesn’t mean they’re a bad person. But screw-ups should be penalized.

QFT. I agree wholeheartedly with this. Consistencey is the key to the programs success.

Whether there was a “self imposed penalty” or not should be beside the point.

Wow, I just realized (by actually reading the thread) how late I chimed in with my reply to Scott… but I still mean it!!
I think the really fast drivers are making me (and maybe some others) push too hard - they should be penalized:angry: - and they should slow down!! Ha Ha, just kidding - I thought we could use some poorly placed, tastless humor. If you can call it that.
I just want a 6th place trophy.
