Road Atlanta results thread
Watched all the videos thus far. Thanks for posting them all. I feel really slow now as I finally got to watch the video of the one session I recorded with my buddies camera.
Here are my videos from Sunday.
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by-cQgBYkxY
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP6KNZd1iqI
The audio track is pretty much garbage. I started the race in 10th and finished in 9th. At 9:10 in part 1, there is a good shot of a pass on Palacio and Taylor coming out of 10B and over the hill.

Ah hah! So that’s what happened to me at turn 1 at the start. Walsh pinched me out. Bastard!
He owes me for that one. He came over on to my front quarter. If I hadn’t backed out, he’d a punted himself across my bow.

Naw. He came over to protect and left you WAY more than the required 3/4 car width on the racing surface.
He was done moving right by the time you hit the brakes. Way cleaner than Robinson’s style…

He created overlap when he came over towards me. It would have been “protecting” if all he’d done was move in front of me. But he was beside me and moving in tighter. Graciously, I got off the throttle and gave him room. If I had done nothing, he’d a punted himself off my left front.
Re. braking. It was all over by the time I hit my brakes. I just did that to give myself a little more room because he was so close to Patton’s tail.

This led to me tapping you ever so softly as we exit 1. I was trying to maintain some momentum. I do not think I touched you again, but who tapped me in 3 is the question or did I just lose it on my own?

Maybe it is a terminology issue. If I were in his shoes, I would move right to make you take the tightest line possible through 1. That eliminates your ability to swing out, increase the radius of your turn, and carry more speed. That’s what I mean by protecting.
Not an unreasonable prediction from the driver’s seat, but the video shows that he stopped moving right once he was close. Real close. Whether he was lucky or skilled in that instance, we may never know.
What caused Lako’s slide in 3? I can’t tell if he got tapped or just mismatched the revs on the downshift, but it snapped pretty quickly.

I don’t think Lako was tapped in T3 at the start. Closest car was Turnip and from my camera view he was several feet away, also he was off the LR corner and Laszlo’s first slide was tail-left, not tail-right. Didn’t have time to process/upload it yet but was pretty dreary for me overall so no big rush.
I agree chuck. I saw Turnipseeds camera angle at the track following some adult beverages and to everyones surprise it looked as though he did not hit me. The snap on my video just appears to come from a tap but maybe driver error.

Lako tapped me both in 1 and 3, albeit he disagrees about 3. But they were light taps so it was no big deal. He spun immed after tapping me in 3. I’m not sure how tapping me could have upset his car tho. I might have had my rear oil jet on “auto”. Usually I have that on manual so I don’t accidently throw oil right in the path of a buddy.
Lako, thanks for posting the video dude. My video was a big fail, but I spent so much time in your video that it’s the next best thing.

If you are going to qualify in the first 2 or 3 rows, you gotta quit considering those “taps”. He was helping you up the hill since you overslowed the car at the apex.
I don’t see a tap in 3. He was easily 2 feet back from your bumper before the car snapped away from him.
You big bumper guys aren’t supposed to be so damned sensitive… :woohoo:
I remember one time at Rockingham I was behind Davidson on the first lap and he over slowed for the turn going back out on the oval…instead of tapping him I increased braking…big mistake. Yes, you had better get used to those “taps” Ranger…
Oh, not that I am faster than Davidson, it was his first time at “the rock”

Just got back in town, heres my Sunday Video. Start was fun but the real action started around 8 1/2 mins I think.
Talk about “busy” hands…
I was watching the race from the sidelines and wondered what happened…
