Question about comp school

Just put a “Honda” sticker on the back and nobody will even question why it is so slow.

If your car is simply down on power and/or not set up with our uber-cool spec suspension, I wouldn’t worry about the slowness.

Assuming it meets the GCR for safety and appearance, your speed relative to others is the worst possible metric to use to gauge yourself. Again, comp school is all about proving that you can push towards the car’s limits (without exceeding them) with situational awareness.

If you are slower than others, stay on the racing line unless and until someone gets next to you. It is the passing car’s responsibility to pass cleanly. I see a lot of new, slower guys try to “help” by going off-line. What inevitably happens is they drift onto the dirty part of the track, start to spin, overcorrect…

Good luck! We will be here to help. Until you get too fast, then the gloves come off.

have not adjusted valves in a while, that will be done before CMP

not sure how to measure the fuel pressure

as far as I can tell throttle cable is properly adjusted for full range motion,

Planning dyno soon, but haven’t been able to get there yet.

When Skeen drove my car he told me he thought it was behaving like the O2 sensors were bad, have yet to change them. hopefully have that done before CMP also,

Thanks for the suggestions.[/quote]

Don’t strip to much until you’ve put the car on a scale. There will be one at the NASA CMP weekend.

For Fuel Pressure, buy a $16 Harbor Freight FP gauge and hook it up to fuel line before fuel rail. You want ~38psi at idle. Then pull vac line off of FP regulator and stick finger on vac line to plug it. FP should go to ~43psi.

Throttle adj. Have someone sit in your car and put throttle to floor. Watch throttle body and confirm that it is rotating all the way.

I’m not sure I buy the O2 sensor (singular, not plural) idea. I don’t think that it plays a role at WOT.

E30 airbox is hard to beat. K&N intake probably robbing you of a hp or two, but that’s not enough to sense.

Check to see if the WOT switch in the TPS closes (electrically). If it doesn’t the engine will be down on power above 4k rpm.
