I’m certainly looking forward to running on the R888’s. I put a 2nd heat cycle on our set in practice and they felt much more predictable. Sidewall stiffness was much improved. Are you going to Grattan?

Ok, purely speculative/subjective question for you guys on RA-1s or R888. If I’m running Falken Azenis RT-615, what kind of time savings will I see switching to R compound? I know there are a million variables involved, but just give me some hope that I can stay on the same lap as you guys once I get some R888

Good question, not entirely sure, I’m going to take a wild guess and say something like 2-4 seconds. Thats just a guess though. One thing to consider is that a lot of people will pick up a lot of time when they start racing. I see it all the time with rookie racers so don’t be too concerned if you aren’t matching the pace right now. Once you get in the heat of a race your adreline will give you that extra to make you push the limits more. I was watching you in one of your sessions and honestly you were looking pretty good coming thru 10 and based on your shift point I’d say you are already doing very well.

Simon, on the video, did you add a second mirror just for the camera to see behind?

Yes exactly, that mirror is strictly for the camera. Its a little trick I use and I’m not sure why more people don’t do it. It definitely adds to the action seeing you in my trunk :cheer:
Here’s one of mine:

camera battery died 10 minutes in, but you get the idea
I will, but it is just tie wrapped to the roll bar. The back of the mirror is such that it stays in place. A friend just gave me the mirror, he used to work at racer’s wholesale, but it is a racing mirror that has a wider angle of view.
Yu guys had a good race. Simon you had to earn that one. I hope you guys get some larger fields for next season. There is nothing like 20+ spec e30 going at it.

We’re working on it, I don’t think we will ever get 20+ fields in this region probably more like 10. We just don’t have as many racers overall in the area. I think we should get a legit 5 at Mid Ohio in July and then of course there is always Nationals. Looked like Roebling was fun.

Bummer for us, but good for you! We’ll look for ya at Mid-Ohio in July.
Great video BTW! It was awesome to watch you and Jeremy duke it out. I love the rear view mirror for the camera.
Well my efforts to get my video down to a decent size without looking terrible haven’t worked so well. I initally imported large (500MB) and was trying to reduce it but maybe I just need to re-import at a smaller size. I’m off to LimeRock so it will probably be next week until I can try re-importing it.
If you’re using windows movie maker I set it to 512K (broadband) and convert it on that setting. It usually comes out around 100mb depending on the length. Good luck at Lime Rock.
