Simons going to be 40?!
NASA Great Lakes at Mid Ohio June 29-1 2012
I had an awesome time. Other than the rain we got Saturday morning that kept blowing the door closed on my head as I was installing my race seat the weather was fantastic. Thankfully my car held up although I think I’m going to have to install some new rotors up front since it felt like they were a bit warped. Luckily I didn’t end up like the 350Z that was all mangled up.
While I’m definitely leaving tons of time in every corner, I feel like I’m getting better at figuring out how to improve. The guy that rode with me Saturday for the first session said that I was definitely capable of managing my car without an instructor which makes me feel good about Angel’s decision to give me his blessing to move up to HPDE 2. It’s amazing how how things like checking mirrors, managing traffic, and checking flag stations are already second nature. It was a little unnerving to hear some of the HPDE 1+2 guys admit during our meetings that they weren’t checking flag stations. Seeing a yellow flag saved me from plowing through the blind side of the esses straight into an Evo that had spun out in the middle of the track.
Great weekend, guys! Except for JVH’s crash
