Looks awesome!

Did you “dip” the chassis or was it just painted on the exterior ? What would one expect to pay? I’m considering doing a “roller” paint job to keep the costs down and have seen a variety of cars that turned out well.

Thoughts?

Hey Dan,

I had my car painted at Miracle in Napa for $400 for a one-color scuff and shoot. Miracle is a friend to NASA racers, if you’re interested talk to Leif. You’ve seen my car…it turned out pretty good:

If you’re looking for very inexpensive automotive paint check out these guys: http://www.paintforcars.com/ You can get thier 1-gallon paint kits for ~$70. I painted my VW GTI in my driveway a few years ago…totally stunk up the 'hood with thier mega-VOC-most-likely-illegal-in-California-paint…but it worked.

After painting my VW GTI myself…I decided the $400 job at Miracle was totally the better way to go for my BMW.

Cheers,
Scott

Awesome, thanks Scott! I’ll check them out.

The guy that painted my car is local to me and is very flexible he is a fellow track junkie and I like to support the people and business’s around me…

Sorry Walter… I should have plugged your guy too…he did a great job on your 37 car. I was thinking since Dan is in the Bay Area the tow to Napa would be a lot easier than the tow to RC. Dan…if you don’t mind the extra tow…Walter’s guy is good and is very conscientious about his work.

Cheers,
Scott

No worries… let’s do a few “movie” inspired cars. Let’s see… Forrest Gump, Natural Born Killers, Apocolypse Now…

I think I want a Monty Python car.

#29

OK so now I’m inspired, let me know what you think. I like having black sides because the parts are easy to match without repainting, but I wanted to give it more of a lighter and consistent color theme without a total repaint. I’m planning on painting the interior grey or white as well.

Appreciate pointers or suggestions! If I copied someone it’s purely unintentional, I’m just playing with p-shop tonight.

Big props to Sasha for the coloring book!

Paint the doors white and put a badge on them - everyone will go faster trying to get away from the ‘cops’…

#32

Hey AJ…I found a paint scheme for you…and look it’s your same car number

#33

sweet - i’m off to OSH to buy some rattle cans!

I met this fellow at the 25-Hour…he’s a photographer from the PNW and is into Pro3 BMWs. His name is Curt Creager and has a bunch of photos of Pro3 race cars. There might be some paint scheme ideas for you AJ for your car. They have some cool looking cars up there. Here’s the link: http://www.creagerimages.com/PRO3%202008

AJ, I hope you didn’t paint yet, b/c this Adventures of Tintin theme car has already done your paint scheme in Norcal:

Saw it at pick n pull today. More pics at http://adam.lazur.org/gallery/v/junkyard/e30artcar/

Damn, that’s almost worth snagging the doors and fenders. Who spends that much time drawing a cartoon on their car???

2nd pic down, upper right hand corner. Dangerous looking flying weapon about to penetrate the protective inner sanctum of our hero and his fluffy dog.

You would point that out AJ…:stuck_out_tongue: . That is savage. I found a e30 with flames on it that failed smog and ended up in a local yard…Nice eta car too…I wanted to save it and turn it into a spec car…
