E30 Build - Macon, GA

#21

Quite a transformation, with all new seals, gaskets, piston rings, rod bolts, head bolts, oil pump, thermostat, and other goodies all clean enough to eat off of:

#22

Got the interior and engine bay stripped and cleaned:

#23

And got the new pedal assembly installed to convert her from AUTO to manual transmission. This requires you to twist in ways the human body wasn’t designed to twist:

Better to be piston than pissed off:

We’re a crank scraper away from being able to remount the engine and breathe new life into this resurrected beast!!

By the way, I found a great parts supplier out of Connecticut called FCP Euro (www.fcpeuro.com) who was able to save me almost $150 on my clutch and had it in my hands within 3 days. They have a very user-friendly website when searching for parts for your car. Just my two cents…

More updates to come…

Looking forward to seeing all the pictures. Unfortunateley Flickr says that they are currently unavailable?

#27

Not sure what’s wrong. They are showing up for me here. Can others see them?

What we see:

Are these set to private by chance?

Apparently, I uploaded the photos, but they didn’t complete their upload because I didn’t click the Upload button. So even though they appeared uploaded, they weren’t. I’ll fix it.

[quote=“MLynch” post=72501]Update!

After getting over some hurdles that required my attention, I was able to get back home to get some more work done. In my absence, I was incredibly and quite pleasantly surprised to find that all had not been completely neglected–I was shocked to see how far Scott “Superman” Clements had brought the engine along!

Have I mentioned how blessed and grateful I am to have such great friends?

Sorry for my screw-up. Are the pics visible now?

Yep, sharp looking engine!
