This arguement is comical remembering the spare tire ballast of two years ago.
After Race Tech Inspection at CMP: Pantas is DQed
We in Australia were very impressed with the interpretation of the ballast placement & spare wheel/tire rules by the Grassroots Guys - Chromepocalypse was a, erm, ‘interesting’ reading of the rules.
The rule as written allows ballast in EITHER right side passenger foot well. Needs to be clarified, since BMW designated this a 4 passenger sedan. Therefore, ballast mounted in the rear passenger foot well is legal, as written…get on the stick, Carter. Chuck

Uh, Chuck, please recall that Carter, like all the series directors, has a day job and a family, and you don’t even race SpecE30. Patience is appreciated. The question will get it’s due consideration.
Chuck, what I said to Carter was said in JEST!!! If we do not explore the rules and point out deficiencies, then our rule sets are lacking. I doubt Carter intended the rule to allow ballast in the rear passenger foot well, but it is allowed as the rule is written. Were I running this class, I would certainly have mine in that location. That verbiage is going to be one of those tweaks that have to be made to rules from time to time. Chuck
After reading the section 9.3.13.2 for the 10th time and seeing Baader’s response and the question by Matt Harness…I’ll have to use the eraser in Panta’s logbook?.!
Thankfully it is an understanding race group and we,ve found an area that needs clarification.
Don’t throw no protest Pantas’ way…

As much as it pains us to be wrong, oftentimes being wrong is the right thing to do. Absolution is the best cure:laugh: Chuck
OK, so I wasn’t reading it wrong and it does need to be clarified. Now I’m less confused.
Thanks for getting this worked out.
Matt
I really need to get the rear toe adjusted!! Honestly I placed the ballast simply to keep it away from the passenger. My daughter uses the car in HPDE 2 so I wanted her instructor(s) to be comfortable and not have to worry about 75lbs of ballast under their feet. I am sure there are those that will argue that moving the ballast that far back is a decided advantage, but I could’ve also put in a heavier seat and probably achieved the same results…
LOL! @ Madoooskie - he is right, I mounted the tires on the car and took off in qualifying at WGI last fall and wondered why the car was so slippery! :woohoo: :silly: I guess I need to check the pressures more often
PS. One of these days I am going to take this racing stuff seriously B)

Excuses, excuses.Every racer has a story, what’s yours? (or should that be up yours?) Don’t matter 'cause the way it is written (the weight is behind the firewall…) you’re a-okay.!?
